Strengthening Civil Society Development and Civil Society – Public Sector Dialogue in Turkey

YADA collected vast experience in creating the grounds of dialogue and cooperation between different groups of the society too. The most important work of YADA to be mentioned within this context is the project of  “Strengthening Civil Society Development and Civil Society – Public Sector Dialogue in Turkey[1]. YADA, as a consortium member of the project conducted under the coordination of Ministry of EU Affairs and supported by European Union, undertook a series of researches that analyze the perceptions of and approaches to CSOs in Turkey through which the reasons for the poor reputation of CSO’s were analysed and solutions for enhancing the reputation were developed. Other activities the Foundation has undertaken included creating guidelines for communication and reputation management for CSOs, providing support for reputation management and communication strategies, and developing platforms to enhance participation in civil dialogue. Publications prepared within the scope of the project are, “Civil Society Organizations with Data”[2], “Perceptions and Attitudes Towards Civil Society Organizations”[3] and “Reputation Management for Civil Society Organizations”[4]. Through these activities and publications, YADA contiues to support CSOs to become active entities of the society. The results of the researches conducted within the project showed that one of the fundamental issues of civil society organizations is lack of dialogue with each other and there is a need of a space for CSOs to contact each other. To fulfil this need Civil Talks were organized for CSOs’ face to face contact and the “Sivil Sayfalar (Civil Pages, www.sivilsayfalar.org)” platform was created. “Sivil Sayfalar” website was introduced as a representation and reputation building space for CSOs. Its goal is to be a common ground for civil society, subjects, groups and ones who want to contact with them; and to be the address of civil society news and mainstream agenda review from civil society perspective.
